Once our iniital concept was chosen as a finalist to make a proposal to the TLCBD we started meeting with business owners, locals, scouting the area, and taking notes on what we found to be unique about the area.

This is a new project to help make Larkin Street one of the most inviting corridors in the heart of the city. The project aims to create a stronger connection between Civic Center Plaza and Little Saigon using new light-based art that builds on Larkin Street’s rich cultural history.
This project is about changing perspectives, and re-thinking Larkin St in the Tenderloin. Sounds that people live with and deal with every day become visually registered and celebrated. The random and organic looking light jumbles form shapes when viewed from certain perspectives. This project is about making new discoveries where you may not have expected them, and inspiring people to take a new look at their surroundings.
Over the next few months we'll be working with the TLCBD to finalize the scope and details of the project. Once the details are worked out we'll proceed with permitting and installation, likely to see these lights on Larkin in 2017.
